Naples... pictures are better than words

Got up early this morning to mail a parcel home. Had to buy another metro ticket to go to a far away post because not all post offices offer the same services in Rome. 29 Euro later and it was on its way.

Deanna went to the Vatican to mail another postcard and I went back to the hostel and played around on the net. We checked out at 10, went to the station and avoided missing our train when they changed the track number. Train ride went well, ate lunch just before getting off.

I was worried about getting to our hostel here and it was kinda tricky but not bad. We had to find the bus station in the middle of construction and it is just a big parking lot full of buses. We bought a ticket and the guy did not tell us where to go so we wandered around with our packs and found the R2 bus. It was easy to tell which stop to get off at and it was really close to the hostel.

We are staying at the Bella Capri Hostel. So far free internet and a decent looking breakfast it sounds like. Our room is nice and clean and it is right on the coastline steps away from our ferry to Capri tomorrow at 910. Cost 45 euro return plus a free huge lunch. Lots to see there, hope we get it all done before last ferry leaves at 710 and I hope we dont die of heat exhaustion.

We lazed around the hostel for about 2 hours and then went out at 3 to walk along the coast. So hot and no beach to speak of. Here is the beach:

Naples is everything people said it would be. It is the ghetto. The first thing we see walking out of the train station is a guy selling cartons of cigarettes out of a backpack. And the place is filthy, stinky and everything is covered in graffiti. They also dont water so everything is dead cause it is so hot. Here are a few examples of what I am talking about:

Random graffiti... there is even some on the sidewalks in places.

Every monument has graffiti... if you do not see any, you are not looking hard enough.
