Well it was a long sweaty walk to the train but a good ride and then a short sweaty walk to our AWESOME hostel. What makes a hostel awesome you say? AIR CONDITIONNING!
Our hostel also has a little bar as well as internet and sweet rooms with ensuite bathroom for 8 people. We also have really cool people staying in our room too!
We dropped our stuff and went out right away.... why shower, we would just get sweaty again. We went first to the Trevi fountain and made our wish then tried to get to the Spanish steps from there and ended up at the Forum and Collesium which was cool. We were famished and could not find a place to eat around there so we came home and ate just down the street from our hostel. Good wine and when we asked for the bill we were told it was too early.... well it started to rain so they rushed the bill over and we went back to the hostel to shower. We got dolled up and went downstairs for a glass of gross wine and then called it a night.
Today was crazy. We got up before 7 to go to the Vatican and there was still a crazy line so we paid 39 euros to go on a tour (25 plus entrance of 14) and skip the lines. Well worth the money. We finished the vatican at noon. Our tour guide was awesome by the way, saw and learned some things I did not know of last time I came. We went for lunch down the road, nothing too great. Then we proceeded to hit a number of tourist spots on the map. We saw the Pantheon and sat outside and looked at the pics of our trip on Deanna's camera which reminded me of how awesome this trip really was.
We also saw a number of fountains and piazza's, Castel Sant' Angelo and its bridge, Piazza Tribunali (a little flea market by there), Adriano's Temple, the Palazzo Montecitorio and the Quirinale. Tonight we are going to go and take the metro to the Spanish steps and hopefully meet up with the guys we met in Florence... if they get our message.
We ran into Derek and Ben leaving the vatican. They are off to Naples tomorrow for 4 nights so we may run into them again there.
Tomorrow we will do the forum and the Collesium and then we should have Monday to tie up loose ends and shop!
P.S. my foot is killing me.... hopefully someone back home is arranging a foot replacement?
