I have finally arrived in the one European city I've always wanted to visit.
We got up at 4am to catch out 630 train. We were in 6 person cabins so for the first 2 hours I got to lay down and sleep as I was alone. Then an English couple came in and made out and groped each other the whole time so I went for coffee with Deanna at the dining car. Then I tried to sleep and listen to my ipod but we stopped again and an Italian family got on and yelled, I mean had a conversation, for 4 hours. Fun times, 6 people in a box. Otherwise there were breathtaking views of the mountains and countryside so that was cool!
We arrived at 130, caught a very expensive water bus to the hostel (lucky for me a random guy gave me his ticket as he was leaving today) and did another long journey of getting lost trying to find the hostel in 30 degree heat...
We finally found it and it was worth the wait. We are staying at the B and B Rota in a double bed private bathroom.... YAY PRIVACY! Yay towel, yay clean, yay being able to leave my stuff all over the place. It is going to be a nice 3 nights!!!
We went for supper just around the corner... nothing too special. Hopefully go for the first gelato after this and fix that. We then wandered around and found a bank, pharmacy, phone (finally got to call mom and dad) and internet. The only thing else we need is food and there is a fresh fruit market by our hostel so I think it is covered.
Oh, also need tourist info... we didn't want to wait in line at the train station today. We have to go back tomorrow anyways to book our train to Florence on the 13th.
First impressions of Venice... ya it is stinky but no more so than Europe as a whole. It looks a little run down... but we haven't seen anything yet. Scared to ask how much a gondola ride is....
Hit up St. Marks and Doge's palace for sure, after that I dunno!
